Dianna Link - Composer

I am a composer who stares out the window in awe of the majestic Colorado Rocky Mountains. My inspiration comes from nature, narrative, unexplained mysteries, and the little things most people don’t take the time to notice.  I am fascinated by the simple beauty found in plants, rocks, ecosystems and weather systems.

I see music through the lens of narrative and compose my music so that it flows together to tell a story. My music starts from a place of emotional intent where I plan my pieces out based on the emotional arch. I use visual art to create a “musical vision board” as part of the beginning stages of my creative process. After the initial tone and framework is set out, I sketch out my piece using specific colors to show the flow of the emotional arch throughout the work. The music that I compose is focused, direct, and driven by a combination of intricate rhythmic textures as well as tonal harmonic soundscapes. I use dense polyrhythmic and contrapuntal textures as well as folk-like melodies in my music.  My music is a reflection of my influences and lived experiences and often includes elements inspired by pop, rock, Irish folk music, and jazz.
